MAT Sim

Predict temperature, hardness, phase evolution, and strain for any heating or quenching schedule.

Versatile Thermal
Process Simulation

Mat Sim evaluates heating and quenching behavior using the validated phase transformation and mechanical models in the DANTE material database. Users can simulate thermal cycles from simple time-temperature inputs to complex rate-controlled heating and cooling schedules.

Material Modeling with Alloy and Microstructure Variation

Mat Sim uses DANTE’s phase transformation and mechanical property data to model thermal response. It accounts for:

  • Base carbon and carbon in carbide form
  • Carbide size factor
  • Initial microstructure
  • Alloy variations from nominal chemistry

Flexible Process Definition Options

  • Time–temperature tabular data entered manually or imported from file
  • Rate–temperature–time data to automatically calculate heating or cooling behavior based on target temperatures and process step times

Comprehensive Phase and Property Predictions

  • Temperature evolution
  • Hardness changes
  • Phase volume fractions
  • Strain development during heating and cooling

Advanced Control Settings

  •  Selection of heating and cooling transformation kinetics modes
  • Activation of auto-tempering kinetics
  • Carbon Separation model and Carbide Dissolution model toggles
  • Limits on maximum changes for phases, temperature, and carbon for stability and accuracy

Adaptable for a Wide Range of Thermal Processes

MatSim is suited for analyzing any heating or quenching process, giving engineers a fast and reliable tool to validate schedules, assess material response, and support process development.
