Optimize Gas Nitriding with
Data-Driven Process Design

GNitro simulates gas nitriding to predict case depth or design a schedule that achieves user-specified targets. Using DANTE’s diffusion and nitride morphology models, it accounts for nitrogen potential, furnace conditions, surface geometry, and alloy variation to generate reliable nitrogen profiles.

Precision Gas Nitriding Design and Prediction

  • Predict nitrogen and hardness profiles from a user-defined nitriding schedule (step time, temperature, nitrogen potential).
  • Design a schedule to reach a specified effective case depth (ECD), nitrogen level at ECD, and total number of steps.

Material Modeling and Alloy Variation

The software uses the DANTE material database, including diffusion models and nitride morphology behavior. It accounts for base nitrogen, base carbon, and alloy variations from nominal composition.

 

Geometry & Process Controls

  • Supports curved and flat surfaces
  • Unit selection for temperature, time, and dimensions
  • Gas Type Factor represents different nitriding gas mixtures

Flexible Process Definition

  • In Prediction mode, users input the nitriding schedule directly.
  • In Design mode, users specify furnace roundup time and target results, and GNitro calculates the time required to meet the final step’s ECD.

Outputs Capabilities

  • GNitro outputs nitrogen profiles by depth and total processing time required for the designed schedule, enabling evaluation and optimization of nitriding performance.
