Optimize Your Thermal Boundary Conditions

HTC Fit is a specialized tool for fitting heat transfer coefficients (HTCs) using measured time-temperature data. Whether you need a constant HTC or a function that changes with temperature or time, HTC Fit provides precise boundary condition definitions for use in DANTE and other thermal simulations.

Comprehensive HTC Fitting for Accurate Thermal Modeling

HTC Fit enables engineers, metallurgists, and analysts to generate accurate heat transfer coefficient curves based on time-temperature tables. Users can define HTCs as constant values or as functions of surface temperature or time, giving full flexibility for modeling quenching, heating, and cooling processes. HTC Fit allows users to characterize their equipment for more accurate simulation and modeling results.

Parameter Definition

  • Set initial values and upper/lower bounds for HTC parameters
  • Define HTC functions as temperature-dependent or time-dependent
  • Customize parameter constraints for improved fitting accuracy
  • Use temperature-based functions to capture realistic thermal behavior

Data Definition

  • Import time-temperature data files for fitting
  • Provide a CQT geometry file for the probe or part that collected the data
  • Support for multi-surface HTC definitions (pre-defined before fitting)
  • Analyze multiple regions with unique thermal boundary behaviors

Controls & Ambient Temperature Definition

  • Select the fitting type: HTC as a function of time or HTC as a function of temperature
  • Adjust the number of fitting loops for improved convergence
  • Define ambient temperature as either a constant or a time-dependent function
  • Ambient temperature is user-controlled and not included in the fitted parameters

Applications

  • Quench process characterization
  • Temperature-dependent heat transfer modeling
  • FEA thermal boundary refinement
  • Calibration of simulation inputs from experimental data
